Este di\u00f3xido de carbono es justamente uno de los catalizadores del aumento de las temperaturas, la\u00a0acidificaci\u00f3n de las aguas\u00a0y de la destrucci\u00f3n de los arrecifes de coral\u00a0en todo el planeta.<\/p>\n<p>Un equipo de nanoingenieros de la Universidad de California, en San Diego, dise\u00f1aron un peque\u00f1o motor que podr\u00eda revertir esta situaci\u00f3n a trav\u00e9s de un proceso que permite convertir el CO2 en un s\u00f3lido, precisamente en carbonato de calcio.<\/p>\n<p>Los micromotores son impulsados a trav\u00e9s de un proceso enzim\u00e1tico. De acuerdo a Kevin Kaufmann, coautor del estudio, &#8220;en el futuro, podr\u00edamos utilizar estos micromotores para un sistema de tratamiento de aguas, como una planta de descarbonataci\u00f3n&#8221;, se\u00f1ala\u00a0Wired.co.uk.<\/p>\n<p>Estos aparatos, seg\u00fan explican sus creadores, funcionan con la propia energ\u00eda del medio ambiente a trav\u00e9s de un proceso enzim\u00e1tico. Ya fue probado y\u00a0actualmente puede retirar hasta un 88% del di\u00f3xido de carbono de aguas de mar.<\/p>\n<p>Esta soluci\u00f3n, adem\u00e1s de ser beneficiosa para el entorno, es una de las menos costosas y m\u00e1s escalables. En comparaci\u00f3n a otras soluciones, \u00e9sta no utiliza productos qu\u00edmicos perjudiciales o consumen energ\u00eda.
