Pero un factor inhibidor es la construcci\u00f3n de dispositivos de memoria cu\u00e1ntica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Estos dispositivos se han construido, pero hasta ahora, han sido demasiado grandes para ponerse en un chip, un requisito para las aplicaciones pr\u00e1cticas. En este nuevo esfuerzo, los investigadores informan en Science del desarrollo de un dispositivo de memoria cu\u00e1ntica que no s\u00f3lo es lo suficientemente peque\u00f1o para encajar en un chip, sino que tambi\u00e9n es capaz de recuperar datos bajo demanda.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El dispositivo es muy peque\u00f1o, aproximadamente 10 por 0,7 micr\u00f3metros y tiene una forma extra\u00f1a, como una barra de caramelo Toblerone \u2013larga y delgada con una forma triangular con muescas-, con espejos en cada extremo. Est\u00e1 hecho de ortovanadato de itrio con peque\u00f1as cantidades de neodimio, que forman una cavidad. Estas cavidades a su vez tienen una cavidad de cristal que atrapa fotones individuales que codifican informaci\u00f3n de datos (cero, uno o ambos).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para operar el dispositivo, los investigadores dispararon pulsos de l\u00e1ser, provocando que los fotones se ensamblaran en la \u2018barra\u2019, lo que los oblig\u00f3 a ser absorbidos; la configuraci\u00f3n tambi\u00e9n provoc\u00f3 que los fotones emergieran despu\u00e9s de 75 nanosegundos. Durante el per\u00edodo de tiempo en que los fotones fueron absorbidos, los investigadores dispararon pulsos l\u00e1ser duales para retrasar la reemergencia de los fotones durante 10 nanosegundos, lo que permiti\u00f3 la recuperaci\u00f3n de datos bajo demanda. Durante el per\u00edodo de tiempo en que los fotones fueron retenidos, existieron como pulsos duales.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para demostrar que el dispositivo estaba realmente almacenando informaci\u00f3n de datos, el equipo compar\u00f3 la funci\u00f3n de onda de los fotones tanto antes como despu\u00e9s del almacenamiento y los encontr\u00f3 pr\u00e1cticamente sin cambios, lo que significa que todav\u00eda ten\u00edan su cero, uno o ambos estados, y que no hab\u00edan sido destruidos, lo que significaba que el dispositivo era realmente un dispositivo de memoria
