Ese es el objetivo \u00faltimo de un nuevo estudio, publicado en la revista\u00a0<em>Cell Reports<\/em>, sobre el papel de la prote\u00edna PDL1 frente al c\u00e1ncer.\u00a0La inmunoterapia tiene como objetivo potenciar la actividad antitumoral del sistema inmunitario para terminar con la enfermedad o frenar su progresi\u00f3n.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Cient\u00edficos del Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n Biom\u00e9dica\u00a0<a title=\"Navarrabiomed\" href=\"http:\/\/www.agenciasinc.es\/ezwebin_site_admin\/www.navarrabiomed.es\" target=\"_blank\">Navarrabiomed<\/a>\u00a0han difundido recientemente los resultados de un estudio clave en la predicci\u00f3n de la efectividad de inmunoterapias. La investigaci\u00f3n ha sido publicada en la revista\u00a0<a title=\"Cell Reports\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cell.com\/cell-reports\/abstract\/S2211-1247(17)31068-9\" target=\"_blank\"><em>Cell Reports<\/em><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La inmunoterapia tiene como objetivo potenciar la actividad antitumoral del sistema inmunitario para terminar con la enfermedad o frenar su progresi\u00f3n. David Escors, investigador responsable del\u00a0<a title=\"Grupo de Inmunomodulaci\u00f3n\" href=\"http:\/\/www.navarrabiomed.es\/es\/actividad-cientifica\/grupos-de-investigacion\/grupo-de-investigaci%C3%B3n-en-inmunomodulaci%C3%B3n\" target=\"_blank\">Grupo de Inmunomodulaci\u00f3n<\/a>\u00a0de Navarrabiomed, incide en que hay muchos tumores resistentes a inmunoterapia debido a mutaciones en diferentes rutas metab\u00f3licas de la c\u00e9lula cancerosa. Uno de estos casos son mutaciones en la v\u00eda de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n del interfer\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El interfer\u00f3n es una mol\u00e9cula que es producida por los linfocitos del sistema inmunitario o bien es inyectada directamente en el paciente. Como funci\u00f3n principal tiene eliminar la c\u00e9lula tumoral mediante la activaci\u00f3n de una cascada de se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n dentro de la misma. Este mecanismo no era conocido en profundidad, y adem\u00e1s se observaba que pacientes con mutaciones en esta v\u00eda eran resistentes a inmunoterapia.<\/p>\n<div class=\"lado frt\" style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p>Hay muchos tumores resistentes a inmunoterapia debido a mutaciones en diferentes rutas metab\u00f3licas de la c\u00e9lula cancerosa<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En este sentido, el grupo ha descubierto que la expresi\u00f3n de la prote\u00edna PDL1 en la c\u00e9lula cancerosa tiene una relaci\u00f3n directa con esta resistencia, ya que crea una barrera que act\u00faa como l\u00ednea de defensa directa del c\u00e1ncer frente al tratamiento inhibiendo as\u00ed la ruta del interfer\u00f3n y evitando que se desarrolle su efecto antitumoral.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Nueva l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mar\u00eda Gato, primera firmante del art\u00edculo e investigadora predoctoral, destaca la relevancia de los hallazgos. \u201cHemos descubierto cu\u00e1les son los dominios funcionales de la prote\u00edna PDL1 necesarios para ejercer su funci\u00f3n de protecci\u00f3n del tumor frente al tratamiento contra interfer\u00f3n. Tambi\u00e9n hemos conseguido caracterizar la ruta metab\u00f3lica a trav\u00e9s de la que se desarrolla la actividad antitumoral que las relaciona y cu\u00e1les son las mutaciones implicadas en la funcionalidad de dicha prote\u00edna\u201d, se\u00f1ala la investigadora.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">El estudio ha establecido para el grupo una nueva l\u00ednea de investigaci\u00f3n prioritaria en la que avanzar\u00e1n con el objetivo de poder ofrecer la m\u00e1xima informaci\u00f3n posible a los onc\u00f3logos en su pr\u00e1ctica cl\u00ednica. Adem\u00e1s, consideran que ayudar\u00e1 a identificar aquellas mutaciones en PDL1 que predigan la eficacia terap\u00e9utica en cada paciente particular frente a un posible tratamiento con inmunoterapia.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La investigaci\u00f3n se ha llevado a cabo durante 2016 y 2017 y en ella han colaborado el Servicio de Oncolog\u00eda M\u00e9dica del Complejo Hospitalario de Navarra (CHN), el Centro de Investigaci\u00f3n M\u00e9dica Aplicada (CIMA) y el Grupo de Se\u00f1alizaci\u00f3n en c\u00e1ncer de Navarrabiomed.
