Este desarrollo puede comercializarse en bonos de carbono y contribuir a la protecci\u00f3n del medio ambiente.<\/p>\n<p>La investigaci\u00f3n inici\u00f3 en 2009 con la recolecci\u00f3n de muestras de bagazo de maguey verde o Agave salmiana usado en las mezcaleras de la regi\u00f3n. \u201cDespu\u00e9s lo carbonizamos y activamos en un s\u00f3lo paso, lo mezclamos con cloruro de zinc y \u00e1cido fosf\u00f3rico y a una temperatura mayor de 300 grados cent\u00edgrados lo procesamos para obtener el carb\u00f3n activado\u201d, detall\u00f3 el doctor Jos\u00e9 Ren\u00e9 Rangel M\u00e9ndez, investigador del Instituto Potosino de Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y Tecnol\u00f3gica A.C. (IPICYT).<\/p>\n<p>Los cient\u00edficos calcularon, que la producci\u00f3n de mezcal a nivel nacional desecha m\u00e1s de 17 mil toneladas de bagazo en base seca al a\u00f1o, si se aprovecharan estos residuos pueden obtenerse m\u00e1s de ocho mil toneladas de carb\u00f3n activado. \u201cEsto es importante, ya que si se quemaran estas ocho mil toneladas, se estar\u00edan arrojando al medio ambiente m\u00e1s de 28 mil toneladas de di\u00f3xido de carbono (CO2), esto es da\u00f1ino porque este gas contribuye en gran medida al efecto invernadero\u201d, enfatiz\u00f3 el investigador.<\/p>\n<p>El carb\u00f3n activado es un material compuesto principalmente de \u00e1tomos de carbono, un gramo cabe en la palma de la mano de una persona. Adem\u00e1s es altamente poroso y su qu\u00edmica superficial permite eliminar contaminantes alojados en agua l\u00edquida o gaseosa.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemostramos que el carb\u00f3n activado puede comercializarse a trav\u00e9s de bonos de carbono, es decir incentivos econ\u00f3micos entregados a empresas que reducen emisiones de gases de efecto invernadero en la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico, estos bonos podr\u00edan redituar aproximadamente 15 d\u00f3lares americanos por tonelada m\u00e9trica de CO2, dependiendo el pa\u00eds\u201d, destac\u00f3 el acad\u00e9mico responsable de la investigaci\u00f3n e integrante de la Divisi\u00f3n de Ciencias Ambientales del IPICYT.<\/p>\n<p>Cabe se\u00f1alar que con el financiamiento del Fondo Mixto de Fomento a la Investigaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica y Tecnol\u00f3gica, el CONACYT y el Estado de San Luis Potos\u00ed (FOMIX CONACYT \u2013 SLP), el trabajo concluy\u00f3 en 2013 comprobando que el fomento de estudios cient\u00edficos que generen alternativas para la soluci\u00f3n de la contaminaci\u00f3n del agua, suelo y aire, puede resolver problemas ambientales actuales y futuros.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLa obtenci\u00f3n de un producto con valor agregado a partir del bagazo de agave, residuo que contiene cerca de un 45 por ciento de carbono, contribuye a disminuir la contaminaci\u00f3n del medio ambiente a causa del CO2, en lugar de quemarlo y convertirlo en gas contaminante, en menos de dos horas creamos el carb\u00f3n activado que ayuda a mitigar el cambio clim\u00e1tico\u201d, finaliz\u00f3 el cient\u00edfico.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp; A partir de residuos de maguey de la industria mezcalera potosina, se obtuvo carb\u00f3n activado, un material capaz de adsorber contaminantes org\u00e1nicos e inorg\u00e1nicos presentes en agua, combustibles y aire.
