{"id":7766,"date":"2017-11-20T10:11:49","date_gmt":"2017-11-20T16:11:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/?p=7766"},"modified":"2017-11-20T10:11:49","modified_gmt":"2017-11-20T16:11:49","slug":"una-nueva-herramienta-bioinformatica-para-identificar-el-origen-de-ciertas-enfermedades","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/otech.uaeh.edu.mx\/noti\/salud\/una-nueva-herramienta-bioinformatica-para-identificar-el-origen-de-ciertas-enfermedades\/","title":{"rendered":"Una nueva herramienta bioinform\u00e1tica para identificar el origen de ciertas enfermedades"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Para entender las enfermedades gen\u00e9ticas complejas, es necesario disponer de una lista completa de los genes participantes y luego estudiar sus interacciones y variaciones, lo cual representa una inmensa cantidad de datos.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta novedosa herramienta permite rastrear los patrones de variaci\u00f3n gen\u00e9tica, a la vez que facilita la sistematizaci\u00f3n e interpretaci\u00f3n de los datos en t\u00e9rminos farmacogen\u00f3micos.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Es por eso que la revista Bioinformatics de la Universidad de Oxford de Inglaterra, decidi\u00f3 publicar el art\u00edculo cient\u00edfico elaborado por los investigadores ticos participantes en el proyecto, bajo el t\u00edtulo: \u201cPortal de visualizaci\u00f3n de variaciones gen\u00e9ticas (VizGVar): Una herramienta para la visualizaci\u00f3n de interacciones de SNPs y mutaciones som\u00e1ticas en exones, genes y dominio de prote\u00ednas\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esa es la primera ocasi\u00f3n en que esta Revista, considerada la m\u00e1s importantes en el mundo en bioinform\u00e1tica, publica un art\u00edculo cient\u00edfico producto de una investigaci\u00f3n costarricense.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esto se debe a que, con esta primera herramienta bioinform\u00e1tica desarrollada en Costa Rica. Con ella los cient\u00edficos costarricenses han demostrado la capacidad del pa\u00eds para desarrollar tecnolog\u00edas en bioinform\u00e1tica.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Este sistema bioinform\u00e1tico fue creado por los ingenieros en dise\u00f1o del Instituto Tecnol\u00f3gico de Costa Rica Ver\u00f3nica Alfaro Arias y Antonio Solano Rom\u00e1n, en conjunto con el especialista de Internet de Cenfotec, Carlos Cruz.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por parte de la UCR particip\u00f3 como asesor y gu\u00eda del proyecto el Dr. Allan Orozco Solano, investigador y profesor del Posgrado en Ciencias Biom\u00e9dicas y de la Escuela de Tecnolog\u00edas en Salud de la UCR.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sobre esta importante publicaci\u00f3n el Dr. Orozco explic\u00f3 que \u201cabre un espacio por primera vez para que otros desarrollen aplicaciones de esta clase\u201d.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Record\u00f3 que en el 2013 la revista Briefings in Bioinformatics, tambi\u00e9n de la Universidad de Oxford, public\u00f3 por primera vez un art\u00edculo costarricense \u201cUn repaso del entrenamiento en bioinform\u00e1tica aplicado a la investigaci\u00f3n en medicina molecular, agricultura, y biodiversidad en Costa Rica y Centroam\u00e9rica\u201d, escrito en conjunto con los estudiantes de la Maestr\u00eda en Bioinform\u00e1tica de la UCR .<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Sobre el impacto que ha tenido la herramienta, el Dr. Orozco se\u00f1al\u00f3 que \u201cactualmente, el Laboratorio Europeo de Biolog\u00eda Molecular (EMB por sus siglas de European Molecular Biology Laboratory) con sede en Inglaterra, considera esta herramienta constarricense, web VizGVar, como un instrumento bioinform\u00e1tico de gran utilidad y as\u00ed lo manifest\u00f3 oficialmente en su reporte de valor europeo del 2016, donde se refiere a \u00e9l como una de las herramientas de mejoramiento a los sistemas actuales de variantes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Debido a este y otros aportes en bioinform\u00e1tica y gen\u00f3mica a nivel internacional, el Dr. Allan Orozco fue reconocido como uno de los \u201cuniversitarios destacados\u201d en 2016 por el Consejo Universitario de la UCR, donde se le concedi\u00f3 el Premio C\u00e1tedra Gen\u00f3mica 2014-2015, categor\u00eda internacional, por el mejor proyecto de investigaci\u00f3n, otorgado por la Facultad de Medicina de la Universidad de Valencia, Espa\u00f1a.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Fuente:<\/strong>
