El paciente que sufre esta dolencia deja de secretar l\u00e1grimas con normalidad y sufre irritaci\u00f3n ocular, sensaci\u00f3n de cuerpo extra\u00f1o, enrojecimiento o visi\u00f3n borrosa.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta dolencia se manifiesta por una disfunci\u00f3n de las gl\u00e1ndulas lagrimales o l\u00e1grima evaporativa. Para agilizar su diagn\u00f3stico, el Grupo de \u00d3ptica, Fot\u00f3nica y Biofot\u00f3nica de la Universidad Polit\u00e9cnica de Madrid ha desarrollado un biosensor \u00f3ptico port\u00e1til que permite digitalizar la detecci\u00f3n de muestras biol\u00f3gicas\u00a0<em>in situ<\/em>\u00a0mediante dispositivos\u00a0<em>Point of Care<\/em>\u00a0(PoC) sin recurrir a un laboratorio.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La enfermedad afecta en alg\u00fan grado a un 15% de la poblaci\u00f3n mayor de 60 a\u00f1os, seg\u00fan Francisco Jos\u00e9 Mu\u00f1oz Negrete<em>,<\/em>\u00a0jefe de Servicio de Oftalmolog\u00eda del Hospital Universitario Ram\u00f3n y Cajal de Madrid.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Esta tecnolog\u00eda, desarrollada desde 2008 por el Centro Biom\u00e9dico Tecnol\u00f3gico permite detectar\u00a0<em>in-vitro<\/em>\u00a0concentraciones de nanogramos por mililitro de material biol\u00f3gico (bacterias, virus, prote\u00ednas\u2026) como en los an\u00e1lisis de un laboratorio. &#8220;La ventaja competitiva es poder tener el diagn\u00f3stico\u00a0<em>i<\/em><em>n situ<\/em>, y que puede ser manipulado por personal no cualificado&#8221;, cuenta Miguel Holgado, investigador principal del equipo. &#8220;De este modo se emplazar\u00eda en la consulta m\u00e9dica reduciendo el tiempo de espera&#8221;, asegura.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">La poluci\u00f3n o las horas que pasamos delante del ordenador reduciendo los parpadeos pueden acarrear s\u00edntomas del ojo seco.
