Pues bien, acaban de superar ese l\u00edmite.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Un equipo de ingenieros de la Universidad de Bristol, en el Reino Unido, ha logrado hacer flotar una bola de poliestireno de 50mm de di\u00e1metro mediante una nueva t\u00e9cnica que genera una especie de tornado de sonido con una zona de silencio en su centro que es en la que flotan los objetos.<\/p>\n<div class=\"ad-container js_ad-video row ad-wide ad-top js_ad-video-desktop\" style=\"text-align: justify;\"><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Al unir varios emisores de ultrasonidos (inaudibles al o\u00eddo humano) a 40kHz, los investigadores descubrieron que pod\u00edan crear v\u00f3rtices de sonido. Cambiando la orientaci\u00f3n de los haces, pudieron controlar la velocidad del giro del v\u00f3rtice y estabilizarlo. El n\u00facleo de estos v\u00f3rtices es capaz de levitar objetos hasta dos veces m\u00e1s grandes que las ondas de sonido empleadas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Hacer flotar una pelotita de poliestireno de 5 cm puede parecer poca cosa, pero es un avance muy importante que abre la puerta a aplicaciones pr\u00e1cticas de esta tecnolog\u00eda m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de una mera demostraci\u00f3n de laboratorio. El sistema es escalable con solo subir la frecuencia de las ondas de sonido para ampliar el v\u00f3rtice.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Bruce Drinkwater, profesor de Ultras\u00f3nica en el Departamento de Ingenier\u00eda Mec\u00e1nica de la universidad, cree que el descubrimiento puede aplicarse a l\u00edneas de producci\u00f3n sin contacto en la que los robots de la cadena de montaje puedan manipular objetos extremadamente sensibles o fr\u00e1giles al contacto.
