Los nuevos detectores reforzar\u00e1n la vigilancia rob\u00f3tica de los niveles de radiactividad.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><img decoding=\"async\" id=\"IMAGEN_INSERTADA_49892\" class=\"RichTextAlignCenter alignleft\" title=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/noticiasdelaciencia.com\/upload\/img\/periodico\/img_49892.jpg\" alt=\"[Img #49892]\" width=\"\" height=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">&#8220;Es m\u00e1s f\u00e1cil hallar una aguja en un pajar si el pajar es peque\u00f1o&#8221;, afirma Jonathan Dowell, cient\u00edfico del Laboratorio Nacional estadounidense de Los \u00c1lamos e inventor de la nueva clase de detectores. Con su comentario se refiere a la capacidad de los detectores para revisar \u00e1reas espec\u00edficas eliminando al mismo tiempo el &#8220;ruido de fondo&#8221; o la radiaci\u00f3n que se produce de forma natural.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En los detectores, una serie de sensores direccionales parecidos a los focos de un faro pueden escanear a trav\u00e9s de un \u00e1ngulo estrecho en busca de radiaci\u00f3n. El Laboratorio utiliza estos detectores a bordo de robots HAZMAT de atenci\u00f3n de emergencias as\u00ed como para llevar a cabo prospecciones geol\u00f3gicas.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Por su peque\u00f1o tama\u00f1o, los detectores de radiaci\u00f3n son f\u00e1ciles de transportar y utilizar.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">En una prueba que se efectuar\u00e1 antes de que acabe este a\u00f1o, los nuevos detectores ser\u00e1n usados en un robot para rastrear materiales radioactivos en el lugar de Nuevo M\u00e9xico en Estados Unidos donde en julio de 1945 se provoc\u00f3 por vez primera una explosi\u00f3n nuclear, una prueba que precedi\u00f3 al uso de bombas de este tipo para atacar a Jap\u00f3n un mes m\u00e1s tarde.
