El golpe puede ser mayor para la filial de Alphabet ya que podr\u00eda que tener que hacer frente a una compensaci\u00f3n de miles de millones de d\u00f3lares por el uso ileg\u00edtimo de la tecnolog\u00eda de Oracle, que en su d\u00eda le demand\u00f3 un pago de 9.000 millones por copiar l\u00edneas informaci\u00f3n que est\u00e1n en la base de los programas que hacen funcionar las aplicaciones de los tel\u00e9fonos y los portales en Internet. Oracle cree que Google deber\u00eda haberle pagado la licencia para su uso o escrito su propio c\u00f3digo. El mayor buscador en Internet, que entonces estaba dirigido por Eric Schmidt, insiste en que cre\u00ed que pod\u00eda usar el Java con libertad. La soluci\u00f3n del litigio, por tanto, tendr\u00e1 implicaciones m\u00e1s all\u00e1 de las financieras, porque puede cambiar c\u00f3mo las compa\u00f1\u00edas tecnol\u00f3gicas desarrollan sus programas. El litigio dura ya ocho a\u00f1os. El lenguaje de programaci\u00f3n Java fue creado por Sun Microsystems, compa\u00f1\u00eda que\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.oracle.com\/us\/corporate\/press\/018363\">Oracle adquiri\u00f3 por 7.400 millones en abril de 2009<\/a>\u00a0y en la que trabaj\u00f3 Schmidt. La demanda lleg\u00f3 un a\u00f1o despu\u00e9s, cuando se complet\u00f3 la integraci\u00f3n. Se celebraron ya dos juicios desde entonces, en los que se puso del lado de Google al considerar que Java no necesitaba protecci\u00f3n legal. El tribunal de apelaciones\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/elpais.com\/economia\/2016\/05\/26\/actualidad\/1464299897_614015.html\">revierte el \u00faltimo veredicto de 2016<\/a>, al considerar que hay parte del c\u00f3digo que no se utilizaron de manera justa parte. Google se limita a decir que estudia cuales son sus opciones y recuerda que Java es un lenguaje abierto. Tambi\u00e9n advierte que elevar\u00e1 los costes para el consumidor. El juez que en San Francisco sigui\u00f3 el caso debe determinar la cantidad que deber\u00e1 pagar. Los expertos legales no descartan que la compensaci\u00f3n pueda superar a la que solicitaba inicialmente Oracle, porque el uso de ese c\u00f3digo se dispar\u00f3 durante los \u00faltimos a\u00f1os. Como m\u00ednimo dan por hecho que se superar\u00e1n los 1.300 millones que recibi\u00f3 la compa\u00f1\u00eda en 2010 en la batalla de patentes con SAP.
